Program Requirements

To maintain the quality standards of Super Nanny Canada, we do not take everybody that happens to be looking for a caregiving job in Canada. If you want Super Nanny Canada to help you secure an authorized employment in Canada under the Live-in Caregiver Program, you must meet the following three minimum requirements concerning your qualifications stipulated by the Canadian government.

Qualification Requirements
  (1) Education
You must have successfully completed the equivalent of Canadian high school education. It takes 12 years of schooling to obtain a high school diploma in most Canadian provinces.
  (2) Work Skills
You must possess the work skills in a field or occupation related to what you will do as a live-in caregiver in Canada. To claim this, you must meet at least one of the following two requirements:
  (a) Work Experience
You must have at least one year of full-time paid work experience (including at least six months of continuous employment with the same employer) in the aforementioned field or occupation within the past three years.
  (b) Vocational Training
You must have successfully completed at least six months of full-time training in a classroom setting in relevant areas of study (such as early childhood education, nursing, geriatric care).
  (3) Language
You must be able to speak, read and understand either English or French at a level sufficient to communicate effectively in an unsupervised home setting

At Super Nanny Canada, we do not think that meeting the Canadian government's minimum requirements in itself makes you a good caregiver. To ensure the quality of our services and increase your chance of success, Super Nanny Canada imposes an additional requirement with regard to your personality and suitability.

  (4) Personality and Suitability
You must be of good moral character, personality and work ethic that make you a reliable, responsible, happy and hard-working live-in caregiver suitable for the job. We judge this on your merits with our personal experience and instinct.

Even after Super Nanny Canada has found you an employer, you can not start working as a caregiver in Canada under the Live-in Caregiver Program until you meet the requirements on employment authorization.

Employment Authorization Requirements
  (5) Job Offer
You must receive a job offer from your Canadian employer that is approved by Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) and sign an employment contract with your employer that specifies the terms and conditions of the job offer. Super Nanny Canada can assist you with this.
  (6) Work Permit
You must obtain a Canadian work permit. A work permit will not be issued unless you satisfy Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) that you have met the aforementioned requirements set by the Canadian government and you are law-abiding and healthy. Super Nanny Canada can assist you with this.
